The 5-inch Saint Charles (San Carlos) Statue commemorates the revered patron of those afflicted with stomach ailments and obesity. Saint Charles Borromeo, known as Carlo Borromeo, served as the archbishop of Milan from 1564 to 1584.
Amidst the turmoil of the sixteenth century, Saint Charles, alongside notable figures like St. Ignatius of Loyola and St. Philip Neri, spearheaded efforts to combat the Protestant Reformation. As a leading figure in the Counter-Reformation, he implemented significant reforms in the Catholic Church, including the establishment of seminaries for priestly education.
Honored as a saint in the Catholic Church, Saint Charles's feast day is celebrated on November 4th. This statue serves as a reminder of his profound impact on Church reform and his enduring legacy of compassion and advocacy for those in need.
